Electrolysis

All laser machines have the inability to treat thin, blond, gray hair. So, how can we get rid of these pesky hairs that just won’t go away?

Electrolysis, is the only SAFE, medically approved alternative method to PERMANENT HAIR REMOVAL.

TYPES:

Thermolysis and Flash Thermolysis: Using high radio frequency to generate a heat current within the follicle to destroy the blood supply

Galvanic: A direct current resulting in hair removal by the production of a natural chemical reaction (sodium hydroxide).

Blend: using the mixture of heat (thermolysis) and current (galvanic) to create a natural chemical reaction within the follicle to destroy the source of nutrients.

DOES IT HURT?

Electrolysis has been an excellent method of permanent hair removal for over 135 years. Some of the older generation would say it was painful back in the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s however with new technology today, the computerized machines are making electrolysis more comfortable then ever. There will be a warming sensation however not painful. Each individual will have different levels of tolerance and for those who are very sensitive a numbing cream can be applied to the area to help ease any uncomfortable sensations. Eventually the skin will acclimatize and the sensation will slowly become more comfortable.

How does it work?

At the bottom of the hair follicle a dermal papilla is what holds the source of nutrients to the hair containing the blood supply. Even if a hair is removed by tweezing the dermal papilla will still remain. This is why tweezing is not permanent.

When the hair becomes visible above the skin in the anagen stage, a fine wire filament is inserted in the natural opening of the hair follicle and is then guided to the bottom of the dermal papilla.

Once in position a small amount of current is applied to cauterizes the blood supply to make it permanently unable to regenerate hair ever again. The hair is then removed with forceps.

*Note: When insertion is done correctly this process does not puncture the skin therefor will not feel any pain.

Timing is everything!

In order for the hair to be permanently removed, it must be treated while the hair is still attached to the dermal Papilla. This will take place at the beginning of the hair cycle. The Anagen stage. If we wait too long to treat the hair we will miss the anagen stage and permanent results will not be achieved.

Do I really need a consultation?

Before booking a treatment it’s very important to have a full consultation for the area you wish to have hair removed. By looking at the hair first and any contra-indications, this will let us know generally how many treatments you will need and how much time in between each session to wait. It’s very important to follow the timeline and instructions that is given to you as it will give you the best results.

What do we Consider?

  • The area to be treated.
  • Metal implant/ Metal dental restorations/ Orthodontics
  • Previous history of hair removal.
  • Sudden onset of hair growth.
  • Hormonal imbalance (abundance of hair growth in a male sexual pattern)
  • Medication (Previous & Current)
  • Underlying medical conditions.
  • Age
  • Gender difference/Transgender/Cisgender
  • The skin’s texture and moisture (dry vs. moist)
  • Sensitivity of the skin
  • Texture of the hair (coarse vs. fine / straight vs. curly)

Electrolysis takes time, patients and most of all commitment to achieve true results!
